The Truth Is Rarely Pure and Never Simple

The Truth Is Rarely Pure and Never Simple

What exactly is the truth? Is it reality, sincerity, integrity? Is it accuracy and honesty? How can we tell the difference between the truth and lies? Why does the media have the power to decide for us what is true?

As Oscar Wilde once said The truth is rarely pure and never simple. This statement sums up the difficulties of telling the truth. The ‘truth’ itself is a variable conception. The whole truth for one can be the half for other. For example my mom’s reactions will be completely different if I get home with the news I have the highest mark in en-US" style= "margin-bottom: 0.14in; text-align: justify">That’s why there is court of law - an institution which decides which truth is true, and which is not. The people who work there have to take these difficult decisions. And they have to have in mind all possible sides of the story, all “truths”. In my opinion this makes everyone of them one of the few people who really know how complicated is the truth.

Which is the easiest way to clean up the mess around the college and keep the ground cleaner? Yes, to make the people who had made it polluted to clean it up! It is hard for the ten cleaners to clean up the mess of a thousand. But if thousand are cleaning the mess of a thousand it is much easier for everyone!

Last weekend almost 90 per cent of the students take part in the “Clean-up day” – a campaign launched by the principal of the college. People looked more ambitious than anyone could imagine! Only for a day the students have cleaned the rubbish which they had been creating for years. What’s more, they have installed extra bins all over the college. This is supposed to encourage people not to throw their litter on the ground.

One of the biggest problems was the cigarette ends, thrown everywhere. And surprisingly even smokers, who had done all this mess, were disgusted of it. They took the main part in cleaning it, and now when they have seen how tough is to clean the cigarette ends, smokers do not throw them everywhere on the ground like before!

Unfortunately almost all the clean-up day leaflets, which have been distributed among the students for about a month, only led to more litter being dropped. So the cleaning campaign first messed up the mess even more!

But after all the “Clean-up day” was a huge success and definitely is something that have to be repeated again!
