“The qualities of a great man are vision, integrity, courage, understanding, the power of articulation, and profundity of character” – Dwight Eisenhower
It’s difficult to define a person who is “great”. Is it great to achieve success in life, to have fortune and fame, to be able to satisfy even your most eccentric wants? It’s needed strong will, decisiveness in complicated situations and steady character, that is able to take responsibility for the consequences.
Everyone is striving for something- happiness for his family, successful career, spiritual development or money. The great man must forget all this because he’s making a supreme sacrifice for the future of the whole human race and his only interest is the well-being of all people. It’s a cruel struggle for which it’s expected no reward. It’s about already formed personality, features and understanding that you cannot have perfect life and happiness only for yourself. It may be pity, but we depend on the people around us- parents, friends, society- and for a great person- nation and world.
